Homemade Herbal Antibiotic: Nature’s Medicine


As a mother and holistic health practitioner, I deeply value natural remedies that are both effective and accessible. This recipe is a natural antibiotic that I keep on hand during the cold season. Packed with herbs and ingredients rich in antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting properties, this blend supports the body in fighting off infections while nourishing overall health.




Why These Ingredients Work


Garlic: Known as nature’s antibiotic, garlic’s allicin compound combats bacteria and supports respiratory health.


Onion: An ancient remedy, onions may help draw out bacteria and provide relief during flu season.


Ginger: This gut-friendly root not only fights infections but also soothes the digestive system and is an anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial.


Turmeric: The curcumin in turmeric aids in healing and immune support, especially when paired with black pepper for enhanced absorption, it acts as a whole-body antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory powerhouse.


Lemon Juice: Loaded with bioactive compounds and vitamin c, lemon juice boosts immunity and reduces bacteria spread.


Cayenne Pepper: With its analgesic and antibacterial properties, cayenne is particularly effective against strep bacteria.


Pineapple: The bromelain (an antibacterial compound) in pineapple offers respiratory and oral health benefits (also a badass anti-inflammatory and great for allergies!)


Honey: A natural antibacterial, honey not only sweetens the mixture but also helps fight infections. (literally the gold, the goat, always the main character!!)


Apple Cider Vinegar: ACV balances gut health and helps stop harmful bacteria.


The Recipe: Nature’s Amoxicillin (all organic ingredients preferred)


• 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar

• ½ cup fresh pineapple, cut into cubes

• 2-inch ginger root, peeled

• 1-inch turmeric root, peeled (or ½–¾ tsp turmeric powder)

• 2–3 garlic cloves

• 1 medium onion

• ¼ lemon juice

• 3 tbsp honey

• 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

• A pinch of black pepper


Steps:

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

  • Strain the mixture for a liquid consistency (you can save the pulp and freeze or smoothies, stir fries, soups)

  • Transfer to a glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.





How to Use

Take a shot (about 1 ounce) before meals as a preventative measure or when you feel under the weather. I like to take a swig in the morning and a swig before bed.


Feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your taste, make it your own way.
